Rural Tourism and Environmental Education Society Nepal (RTEES Nepal) was established in 2009 in Rasuwa district with the slogan of “Let’s join our hands and heart with locals for sustainable rural development to make prosperous new Nepal”. RTEES Nepal has implemented various projects in the region such as the innovation in agriculture through cultivation of high valued medicinal herbs as an alternative source of income; Agricultural training and research program; promotion and maintenance of new and existing trekking routes; sanitation and waste management awareness program; provision of health facilities for the community and training for the local health workers; capacity building through vocational training for women and local trekking guide; and reforestation to reduce the impact of climate change.
Since 2009 RTEES Nepal has been working in collaboration with The Mountain Institute (TMI), an INGO (its head office is in Washington DC) that works throughout the mountain belts in different regions of the world particularly in Nepal to uplift the quality of community, culture and to conserve the biodiversity. Currently RTEES Nepal is working with TMI to conserve biodiversity and to uplift the livelihood of the communities in marginalized northern VDCs of Rasuwa district through an innovative agriculture and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) project. The program has shown its significant impact through escalated economy of the local people. Beside TMI, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC), Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP), Institute for Village Studies (IVS) and Civil Alliance for Mountain Development are the important partners that have been supporting RTEES to implement different helpful projects to uplift the life of poor and helpless people.
With the success story of Rasuwa district RTEES Nepal plan to implement Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs) project soon in the other districts of Nepal. Likewise in upcoming days RTEES Nepal plan to more focus on volunteer projects in different sectors such as education, health, community development, ecotourism, re-plantation, orphanage, disable people, awareness, sanitation and women empowerment. Through these volunteer projects we aim to bring considerable change in the life of poor and helpless people. So, RTEES Nepal always welcome the volunteers interested to provide their precious and valued services particularly to the children and people from the poor and backward community who are deprived from any opportunity.
RTEES Nepal has very strong and young management team. All the members of our organization are committed to help and bring considerable change to the economically and socially backward people. RTEES Nepal has its own rules and regulations and code and conduct by which all our members are guided. If any organizations and persons are interested in our projects and want to collaboration with us RTEES Nepal always ready to join our hands.
To promote the sustainable and community based development of the region, ensuring the conservation of the environment and of the unique Tamang culture linking it into the mainstream of national and international advancement through tourism and agricultural development.
